Untangle Your Emotions

I try not to be overtly political, but these abortion bans have been weighing heavily on my mind. I hear a lot of radio silence from my Christian friends. So much so that it is alarming.

I am pro-choice. Because even though I do not think I could ever get an abortion, I understand that it should be a person's choice whether or not to bring a child into this world.

God is love and of love. I've read the word. So if you truly believe in God and Jesus then you would understand that love isn't about controlling or owning a person but accepting them as they are.

People have to have the right to choose their own lives and their own paths. Untangle your emotions and listen to the people who have gone through these experiences. Not everyone shares your faith or viewpoints, but you can still learn from them.

Abortion bans won't end abortions. It will only end safe abortions. There will be back alley ones like there were back in the day meaning that people in addition to being arrested for miscarriages (are you kidding me) and abortions there are going to be a lot of deaths and injuries that could otherwise be preventable.

This isn't about babies. This is about control. The government shouldn't be able to regulate what people do within their own lives when it comes to a woman a choice of what to do with her life!

You may not like that, but it is the truth. We all need to be free to choose our own paths regardless of whether or not you agree with someone's choice doesn't mean they shouldn't have the right to make that choice.

Pregnancy is dangerous. It can kill people. It can cause complications after a child is born. There are cancer patients who cannot have chemo until they have an abortion. There are cases of incest and rape.

Bottom line is no one should be able to tell anyone what they HAVE to do in their own lives.

Women are not your vessels, your wombs for hire, or your property. They have living, beating hearts. You should be concerned about the welfare of both.

Otherwise you are just pro-birth and not pro-life as you claim to be.

So please think about how extreme these bans are, and how many lives could be ruined because of them. You don't want to be oppressed by anyone else's religion yet you would oppress others with yours?

Whatever happened to feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, taking care of the widows and unfortunate? These are things you are called to do. Yet instead you would wage a war against women.

If you really want to help then make birth control free, make sex education a better tool in helping people making better choices, don't freak out if your daughter wants birth control or you see your son has condoms. People are going to make their choices, at least, help them have the tools to make informed and better decisions for themselves.

This isn't about you or how you personally feel. This is about letting women have the basic dignity and decency that you would give anyone else (including corpses).
