High Minded

High minded slack faces
leave me sitting all alone
in a stuffed room;

They roam from affection
to acclaim, in dreams offering
me half-hearted apologies;

I rush place to place, preferring
not to perform anymore, raising
my own stakes;

To be so famous and renowned,
so grandiose, that one must
choose to act small.

‘Tis a consummation devoutly
to be besmirched.
