On Our Horizon
A lot’s been going on at Life in 10.
To fill you in, we participated in the Richmond Book Art Fair, presented by Studio Two Three. We hosted a reading for the RVA Lit Crawl where five fantastic writers read their work. The talented authors that read were Erin Mahone, Stephen McMaster, Hope Whitby, Paitra Russell, and Saira Ramos. From the lime sparkling water to the group picture with our light-up sign, the Lit Crawl reading was an amazing event with some very talented and creative minds.
Fortunately, the literary fun is not over yet. L10 has plenty of upcoming events and classes that we are excited for the community to be apart of. In just over a week, we will be celebrating the launch of Hope Whitby’s Traveling the River, the second book to be published by the Life in 10 Minutes Press. The team of the L10 Press, which has just turned a year old, has been working tirelessly to prepare for the launch. We will be celebrating on May 2, from 6:30 - 8:30 P.M. at Studio Two Three. And, of course, you can already pre-order your copy of Traveling the River by clicking here.
“Give my words seed,” Whitby writes, “and they will take root.”
Our next session of classes have opened up and are quickly filling. There are a few spots left in Erin Mahone’s “ReStory: ReWrite, ReSpeak, ReImagine Your Life” on Thursday nights, and single session classes, such as Elizabeth Ferris’ “Landscape and Self: Writing Place in Creative Nonfiction” in May! Check out the full line upon the class registration page!
Last but not least, we’re gearing up for two retreats later this year! In August, Valley and Elizabeth will lead you deep into the sediment of heart and craft in the breathtaking Blue Ridge mountains. The details of their retreat, Unearthing: Writing From Our True Depths have just landed and registration is now open!
In October, Valley heads back to México, where she and Linda Laino will guide writers through the sacred arts of revealing the layered self through art and writing. Their San Miguel de Allende Retreat features writing workshops and mandala-painting classes Writers and artists alike will find themselves immersed in culture and creativity as they explore their potential for creation in a rich and historic city.
Short shorts, flash non-fiction, and bite-sized stories that make you hungry for more.
Life in 10 is home to writers of stories that are brave and true.
Take your story deeper with a L10 class.
