Wanting

I told her I wanted more
She brought me a candy bar-----peanuts are not a chocolate delight

I told her I wanted change
She brought me a pair of dice---- pressing dots, I rolled with all my might

I told her I wanted space
She brought me a Christmas star----- i got stuck on the points, fingers bleeding

I told her I wanted time
She left me a photo framed------she was smiling as she held fast to a falling kite

Now I have so much time
My days are spent eating candy bars-----I see wrappers everywhere

Now I have so much space
My pants don’t fit around the waist-----  peanut crumbles shadow the light

Now I have so much change
My nights are  edged with wanting------rolling dice press tight

Now I have so much more
My rooms no longer hold me-----empty wrappers toss in flight
