Three Poems in Series

I. Nest

I found the next
today cleaning
out the garage
a hundred thousand
thousand
swarming memories
crawling over me

II. Smoothed Over

later that day
I unpacked more
relics of a past
wound

where are the bandages
I once could
find so easily?

there is no
stopping a bleeding
spirit.

III. Bogging Me Down

tired of the endless
ennui
I finally looked in my mirror

saying you
are the one you are
chosen to be

packed the box
stuffed it in the refuse
pile
aptly named

rubbing my five-year-old's
head, I said, you are my
future and my past

that is all fine.
