Stories

I knew we weren't really in love the day I stopped you mid story. You lay next to me on your metal twin bed, hands behind your head, and babbled on about the first crush you ever had back in Baltimore City. A story I’d heard times before, so I told you to stop. I wanted your arms around my waist. I wanted to dissolve into the grooves of your chest and inhale your exhale. I wanted to feel you, to grow with you, to sleep with the serenity of your biceps encircling my torso. But the truth is, when I told you I wanted to wait, you no longer felt the need to hold me. You rolled over on your metal twin bed and pushed me to the side. Then you lay next to me, hands behind your head, and babbled on about the first crush you ever had back in Baltimore City. A story I’d heard times before, so I told you to stop.
