Routine

“What horrifies me most is the idea of being useless: well-educated, brilliantly promising, and fading out into an indifferent middle age.” - Sylvia Plath

There’s one thing that has always scared me in life. Routine. Every day I feared that I would live a cookie cutter lifestyle and that I wouldn’t really get to live.

But as I was thinking about this one day I had come to a sort of realization; why am I so scared? Why does routine sound like something I should dread? I mean, maybe if it were a mundane life that I wasn’t passionate about. But I can change that. My goal is to create a life where I don’t need to take a vacation from it. A life where I enjoy every single day of what I do.

What I’m trying to say is don’t settle for something less than what you truly want. As much as you may have heard that, I think that is one of the real foundations for happiness. If you find joy in doing a certain thing or career or lifestyle, then do it. Just don’t get stuck with living a life that you settled for, get stuck with living a life that you chose.
